LASC is going old school with backyard BBQ and Scotch.  Back in the youthful days of the LA Scotch Club our Peatin’ Meetin’ could fit in a yard.  And it was awesome.  Fast forward to this year.  Big Slim’s Hickory Creek BBQ needs some “practice” perfecting the art of peat smoking bbq with different meats before the BIG EVENT on August 9th.

Now I don’t say this lightly… I never say things I don’t mean:  Big Slim makes the best peat smoked bbq on Earth.  Earth.  Seriously, almost no one in the US uses peat, definitely no professionals in competition.  Perhaps a few Irish and Scots use peat, but not like Big Slim, a professional American BBQer.  He was good last year, but he has been mastering his craft.  LASC has been fostering his peat skills.  Folks we have an Olympian.  He stands alone on the podium.  Last month we saw what he could do with a Weber Grill (ridiculously good).  For this event it gets serious and bring the real smokin’ hardware and the mere thought of it brings tears to my eyes.  This BBQ will be something special.  We’ll be experimenting with different types of tri-tip, chicken, and more.  Come and feast.  While you are at it…

SCOTCH!  You betcha.  While we watch the BBQ cooking we will be drinking peated whisky and selling items early for Peatin’ Meetin’ fundraising.  We’ll have EARLY T-shirts ready (and our artists are great) as well as 15x15s mini scotches and full bottles of scotch for sale.  Cigars?  Rare imports.  This is going to be a blast.

BTW, we are now a big club but we will have limited space since this is in John McDonald’s backyard.  Book now before we fill up.
